The JRP IAT Sensor v2 is the latest evolution of our intake air temperature sensing hardware, developed using real-world feedback from thousands of vehicles running our original v1 sensors. While the v1 IAT sensors remain a solid and reliable option, the v2 brings meaningful improvements in installation flexibility, response speed, and overall refinement.

One of the key upgrades with the v2 IAT sensor is the move to a 1/8 PT threaded fitting. This is a standard we’ve recently adopted at JRP, as it offers excellent versatility as 1/8 PT sensors can be installed into both 1/8 NPT and 1/8 BSP ports. This makes them ideal for a wide range of intake pipes, manifolds, and aftermarket bungs without the need for adapters.

Compared to the larger 3/8 NPT thread used on our v1 sensors, the v2 IAT sensor is significantly more compact. This allows for a much neater installation, particularly in tight engine bays or crowded intake setups where larger sensors can protrude excessively and limit placement options. The smaller sensor body makes it easier to position the IAT exactly where it should be for accurate temperature readings.

Like all IAT sensors, fast response is critical. Intake air temperature can change rapidly, and ECUs rely on this data to make immediate fuelling and ignition timing adjustments, not only for performance, but also for engine protection under extreme conditions. While our v1 sensors were already responsive, the v2 design improves response times significantly by approximately 30%, delivering faster and more accurate data during rapid temperature changes.

The v2 IAT sensor features a whole brass body and exposed sensing tip with high melting point, providing excellent thermal conductivity, durability, and long-term reliability in harsh engine bay environments. Any concerns we had with the brass body in relation to heat soak were squashed during testing and significantly outperformed the v1 sensors in each response test we performed.

From a compatibility standpoint, the v2 IAT sensor uses the same calibration curve as our v1 sensors, making it fully compatible with both our 52 mm IAT gauges and 14in1 Multi Gauge systems which now all come with these latest v2 sensors as standard. It’s also well suited for use with aftermarket ECUs. Note for customers looking for a replacement sensor for our gauges bought earlier than Dec 2025, while these are a suitable replacement, the fact they are 1/8 PT instead of 3/8 NPT will mean you need a different bung welded in if you wish to use these newer sensors.
