JRP Fluid Temp Sensor v2 1/8 PT (NPT & BSP) - Oil Water

Our latest JRP v2 fluid temperature sensors are the result of years of real-world feedback and testing across thousands of vehicles running our original v1 sensors. After analysing long-term performance data and customer input, we asked a simple question: how can we make these even better? The answer is this v2 sensor.

One of the key advantages with JRP fluid temp sensors found on both our v1 & v2 is the move to a 1/8 PT threaded fitting. This is a standard we’ve recently adopted at JRP, as it offers excellent versatility as 1/8 PT sensors can be installed into both 1/8 NPT and 1/8 BSP ports. For those who are looking at installing the sensors into existing ports on engines, you won’t have to worry about the good old is it a BSP or NPT fitting as these will fit both.

While our v1 fluid temp sensors remain a solid and reliable option,  and are still available as replacements or for aftermarket ECU applications, the v2 fluid temp sensors represent the natural evolution of our temperature sensing hardware. They deliver noticeably faster response times, improved installation quality, and a more modern connection system, all without adding unnecessary cost.

One of the standout improvements with the v2 temp sensors is response speed. During development and pre-production testing, we were genuinely surprised by just how much quicker these sensors reacted to rapid changes in fluid temperature. Compared to our v1 sensors, the v2 design responds approximately 20% faster, providing more immediate and stable temperature data.

While not every application demands ultra-fast temperature response, we believe that when it comes at minimal extra cost, there’s no downside to running the most responsive sensor possible. Faster response means more accurate real-time data, particularly during warm-up, heavy load, or sudden temperature spikes, exactly when reliable information matters most.

These v2 fluid temp sensors also introduce Delphi Packard style connectors, matching the connectors used on our pressure sensors. This provides a cleaner, more secure installation and improves long-term reliability compared to the bullet-style connectors used on our v1 sensors.

Importantly, the v2 temp sensors use the same calibration curve as our v1 sensors, making them a true drop-in replacement from a data and compatibility perspective. They work seamlessly with all JRP gauges and are also suitable for use with aftermarket ECUs that support sensor calibration.

Please note:
Due to the updated connector design, when replacing a v1 fluid temp sensor with a v2 sensor, the included v2 cable must be installed. The v1 fluid temp sensor cable is not compatible with the v2 connector.
